Minecraft Distance Calculator

Measure the 2D and 3D distance between two Minecraft coordinates before you build, travel or link routes.

Use this calculator when you want to compare two points on your Minecraft world and see how many blocks separate a base, portal, farm or mining route. Enter X, Y and Z for both locations to get the horizontal X/Z distance and the full 3D distance.

It also shows the difference on each axis, so you can tell whether the biggest change comes from elevation, sideways movement or straight travel across the map.

Point B

The 2D measure uses X and Z. The 3D measure also includes height on Y.

SummaryFill in both coordinates to measure the distance.
2D distance

Horizontal formula√((ΔX)² + (ΔZ)²)
3D formula√((ΔX)² + (ΔY)² + (ΔZ)²)

Use clear inputs to get a more useful result.

The horizontal distance uses only X and Z, which is usually the best reference for roads, rails and flat travel. The 3D distance includes Y, so it is more useful when one point sits much higher or lower than the other. If you are planning a portal room, vertical farm or mountain climb, compare both values before choosing the route. In Minecraft, a path that looks short on the surface can become much longer once elevation is included.
