Hinge Quantity Calculator
See how many hinges to use on a door based on height and the actual leaf weight.
The Hinge Quantity Calculator helps carpenters and cabinet makers decide how many hinges to fit on each cabinet door, applying the practical rule used by brands such as Blum, Hettich and similar, considering the door height and the actual leaf weight.
Enter the height, width and thickness of the door, pick the material (MDF, particle board, plywood, pine, cedar, eucalyptus, oak or glass) and the load capacity per hinge of your hardware. The tool calculates the real weight of the leaf, recommends the hinge count, shows the load per hinge and warns if the recommendation exceeds the hardware limit, suggesting one more hinge.
Use the result as a starting reference and combine it with the project, the hinge type (35 mm cup, side, pivot) and the finish. In woodworking, an extra hinge is cheap and significantly extends the door lifespan.
Use clear inputs to get a more useful result.
