Estimate the weight of MDF, particle board, plywood or solid wood furniture from your parts list.
The Furniture Weight Calculator helps carpenters, designers and customers estimate the final weight of a piece of furniture before deciding on transport, wall mounting or the type of hinge to use. The calculation multiplies the area of each part by its thickness and the real density of the material.
To use it, add each part with its name, length, width, thickness and material (standard MDF, MDF High Density, particle board, plywood, pine, cedar, eucalyptus, oak, imbuia or cumaru). The tool sums the volume in litres, the area in square metres and the total weight in grams or kilograms, depending on the project scale.
Use the result to check load capacity, hinge choice, transport hardware and logistics. Keep in mind that hardware, glass, mirrors and finishes add extra weight not considered in this initial estimate.
